In the early 90's, Simlev and Mathz and a couple of friends, formed Krokmitën, inspired by various elements in metal music. They recorded two demos and played gigs in and around the Montreal area. Soon, each band member had to deal with their respective life obligations, and a lenghty hiatus ensued.
In 2011, with fresh material in hand, Simlev rebuilt Krokmitën, together with original drummer Mathz, and guitarist, DubG, for maximum dual guitar symbiosis. This time with a more extreme metal approach, they released 'Alpha-Beta', a 46-minute track with animation synched to the music, as a free download. In 2012, Krokmitën also released 'BWV565 Redux', their take of Johann Sebastian Bach's 'Toccata & Fugue in D minor, BWV 565', also available as a free download. Mathz parted ways with Krokmitën in late 2012 to pursue other projects, and Lupiaan, a long-time friend of the band, quickly became official drummer. The band is actively working on the next album.
